WHEATON - Wheaton North's bid for a third consecutive DuPage Valley Conference title hit a roadblock Saturday with a doubleheader loss to Naperville Central.

The Falcons lost the opener 4-2 in the completion of a game that was suspended in the fifth inning Thursday due to the weather. The squad then lost the nightcap by a 5-3 margin to fall one game behind the Redhawks in the league standings.

Game two ended with a bit of controversy. Trailing 5-1 heading into its final at-bats, Wheaton North scored two runs on a base hit by Tom Colletti which put runners on first and second with only one out.

Lake Bachar then grounded intto a forceout but after a couple minutes of discussion, the umpires called interference on Colletti sliding into second base and thus ruled a game-ending double play.

In game one, Naperville Central broke a 2-2 tie with a pair of runs in the top of the seventh. The Falcons put two runners on base in the bottom half of the frame but a strikeout ended the threat.
