McAsey news release: McAsey-sponsored legislation to increase road safety advances to the Senate
State Rep Emily McAsey, D-Romeoville, issued the following release:
SPRINGFIELD – As part of her continued efforts to increase road safety, legislation introduced by state Rep. Emily McAsey to prohibit non-emergency vehicles from using flashing lights recently passed out of the Illinois House.
“Emergency vehicles use lights to alert drivers, when non-emergency vehicles use them they are endangering our roads,” said McAsey. “Unfortunately, there are instances when other people use lights to confuse and intimidate drivers. To protect travelers and Illinois motorists, this legislation further restricts the use of flashing lights and increases penalties for using them illegally.”
