DOWNERS GROVE – Humphrey Middle School eighth-grader Jazontae Howard has been given the honor of presenting the Oath of Athletes at the start of the Illinois Elementary School Association’s Class AA State Track Meet May 17 at the Eastside Centre in East Peoria.

Howard earned the honor with an outstanding performance downstate last year as a seventh-grader when he won the 100-yard dash, finished fifth in the long jump and was a member of the Humphrey 4x100 relay team that finished second.

On May 11, he and his teammates will join athletes from all five Valley View School District middle schools at the Brooks Middle School regional in an effort to qualify for 2013 state competition.
