Comcast SportsNet fires Downers Grove native after on-air gaffe goes viral

DOWNERS GROVE – Comcast SportsNet has parted ways with reporter Susannah Collins, a Downers Grove native, following her on-air slip of the tongue this week, the Chicago Tribune reports.

During Tuesday's Blackhawks broadcast, Collins mistakenly said the team had a "tremendous amount of sex during the regular season." She intended to say "success," and quickly corrected herself and continued the report with an eye roll.

The clip quickly went viral online and was mentioned by Jay Leno on the Tonight Show.

CSN told the Chicago Tribune her firing was "unrelated" to her on-air remarks, and said the flub put a spotlight on her appearances in a series of raunchy comedy videos named "Sports Nutz" uploaded to YouTube between 2009 and 2010.

Though CSN was likely aware of the videos before her hiring – she mentions them in her bio on her Website – and in an interview last month she credited the videos with helping her career early on.

Collins was hired by Comcast in September to provide reporting of Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox games.
