WHEATON – United Way of DuPage/West Cook will host their fourth annual LIVE UNITED 5K Run and Walk on Saturday to help raise money for the Southeast DuPage Health Initiative, a free clinic in Westmont that provides health services for low-income adults.
More than 500 runners and volunteers are expected to participate in the event held at Cantigny Park, 1S151 Winfield Road in Wheaton.
Last year's United Way 5K raised more than $11,000, which helped nearly 2,500 adults in DuPage County receive necessary health services. The run and walk this year is expected to generate more than $20,000.
“We continue to strive to provide necessary resources and services to those in need, and the 5K event is a testament to that mission," said David Cassel, chief professional officer at United Way of DuPage/West Cook.
Sponsors of the 5K run and walk include Kellogg’s, SunCoke Energy and Surburban Life Media.
Registration opens at 6:30 a.m., and the 5K will begin at 8:30 a.m. For more information, visit www.uw-mc.org/dupagewestcook/live-united-5k/.
