Forest Preserve District celebrates completion of new Oak Brook bridge

OAK BROOK – The Forest Preserve District of DuPage County will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve at 3609 Spring Road in Oak Brook to celebrate the completion of its new bridge.

The ceremony will be on the west side of Salt Creek, which attendees can reach via a trail on the southeast end of the preserve’s parking lot.

The single-span structure replaces a 1930s bridge that was damaged in a flood in August 2010. It conforms to modern construction standards while including historic visual elements, such as limestone facing on the abutments and wood details along the steel superstructure.
