LOMBARD – A group of community members is working to privately fund the development and construction of a memorial site that will be dedicated to Lombard’s longtime village president, the late Bill Mueller.

The memorial will be on the property of the Lombard Historical Society’s Victorian Cottage Museum, 23 W. Maple St., and include a permanent garden, gathering place and a Victorian-style gazebo.

This idea was developed by a group of residents looking for a way to honor Mueller for his years of service and commitment to the village.

The cost of the project is estimated at $30,000 and will be funded by private donations.

An account at West Suburban Bank has been established for anyone interested in supporting the project. To make a donation, checks can be made payable to “Community Memorial Site for Bill Mueller” and sent to West Suburban Bank, attn: Cherilyn – personal banker, 711 S. Westmore Ave., Lombard, IL 60148.

Donations also can be made online at

Construction will begin as soon as the funds are available.
