WILLOWBROOK – Juan Cuellar, 24, continues to be held without bond at the DuPage County Jail after a status hearing in court this week.

Cuellar, of Willowbrook, is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Joshua Holmes near Honeysuckle Rose and Lilac lanes in Willowbrook.

Following the murder in September 2012, Cuellar allegedly met up with his mother, Elva Hernandez, who assisted him in disposing of the murder weapon in the Fox River. The following day, a local resident discovered the gun and alerted police, who recovered the weapon.

Hernandez, 43, was sentenced to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for her role. She pleaded guilty to one count of obstructing justice last week.

Cuellar will next appear in court June 17.
