Churches join for Glen Ellyn-Wheaton CROP Walk

Published: Thursday, May 2, 2013 12:00 p.m. CDT

GLEN ELLYN – The 2013 Glen Ellyn-Wheaton CROP Walk to end hunger will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, 493 Forest Ave. in Glen Ellyn.

The walk is coordinated by local churches as one of hundreds of CROP Walks sponsored each year by Church World Service, a Christian organization that works to end hunger and poverty and promote peace across the globe.

Last year, 14 churches from Glen Ellyn and Wheaton raised $26,500 for local agencies, including the People’s Resource Center and the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, and Church World Service, which supports hunger relief projects in Africa, Asia, South America and the Middle East.

Participants in the Glen Ellyn-Wheaton CROP Walk may participate in a full 10-kilometer walk or a stroller-friendly 2.5-mile course. Donations and sponsorships are welcome.
