Bolingbrook non-profit awards scholarship to Proviso East senior

BOLINGBROOK — Bolingbrook-based independent scholarship charity Common Roots Initiative awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Proviso East High School senior Anthony Greenhow.

This fall, Greenhow will attend Southern Illinois University and plans to major in psychology.

Founded in 2010 by Bolingbrook resident Soumya Rao, Common Roots Initiative (CRI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that gives financial support to educators and college-bound students.

Greenhow is the fourth recipient of a $1,000 Common Roots Initiative scholarship.

The organization's mission is to assists deserving high school graduates in pursuit of higher- education degrees through scholarships and acknowledges hardworking teachers through classroom funding. CRI seeks to reward academic talent and excellence.
