LOMBARD – Montini baseball has continued its assault on the Suburban Christian Conference this spring.

The Broncos racked up three more SCC wins in the past seven days to improve to 10-2 in the league with two league games remaining.

Montini, the leaders in the Blue division, edged past Aurora Central Catholic, the leaders in the Gold division, 7-6 in 10 innings under the lights at Benedictine University on Friday.

The Broncos won on ACC’s sixth error of the game in a game that featured 11 errors in total. Tyler Trumpane was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored.

Eric Frontzak picked up the win on the mound Monday in a 5-4 win over Marmion Academy. Eddie Bava had a double and two RBIs and Trumpage was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Montini didn’t need thin margins in Tuesday’s return trip to Marmion. The Broncos won 11-1 in five innings. Starting pitcher Ben Dobosenski had a complete game with seven strikeouts.

The Broncos improved to 14-3 after the three-game winning streak and next play at Morton on Saturday. Montini has two more conference games, a home game against Guerin on Monday and the resumption of Thursday's suspended game at St. Edward to be completed on Tuesday. After that Montini heads into a run of nonconference games that includes undefeated Lincoln-Way North, a ranked Lockport team and other bigger schools Fenwick, Geneva and Brother Rice.
