This summer, the Village Links of Glen Ellyn will unveil a new and expanded golf clubhouse and driving range.
This project will be appreciated by golf course visitors and will attract a wider audience to the new restaurant. The larger community benefit is that the improvements will strengthen the golf course financially so the Village Links can continue to provide significant flood protection for the southern third of Glen Ellyn at no cost to the taxpayer.
The new restaurant will pair an upscale menu with a full selection of cocktails, wine and craft beers. The décor inside the prairie style-inspired clubhouse will include natural stacked-stone walls, rich woodwork and a black granite bar. With a gorgeous view of the 18th hole, the new patio will be larger and will feature a service bar under a translucent canopy, brick pavers, two fire pits and public-access Wi-Fi.
The banquet room overlooking the new west practice putting green and the first tee of the 18-hole course will be available for private functions for up to 150 guests. It can be split in half for smaller groups and will be perfect for golf outings, bridal showers, anniversary parties, weddings, graduation celebrations and community groups.
In addition, the expanded golf clubhouse will feature a new meeting room that will provide boardroom amenities with modern A/V and teleconference capability for up to 24 guests. It also will feature new circle drive parking that will eliminate long walks from the parking lot in winter months and inclement weather.
The Village Links also is excited to present a fully renovated driving range with an enlarged practice tee. And don’t forget, the nine- and 18-hole golf courses are open throughout the construction season.
These improvements have been shaped by valuable input gathered from many sources including Village Links golfers, the Glen Ellyn Recreation Commission, a Master Plan Steering Committee, an ad-hoc Aesthetics Guidance Group, the Glen Ellyn Finance Commission, the Glen Ellyn Plan Commission, the Glen Ellyn Architectural Review Commission and the Village Board of Trustees. The final project evolved from input received from presentations and discussions at more than 40 public meetings.
With that wealth of input, our architects and engineers have worked closely with the golf course staff to create a great project that will serve Glen Ellyn and the Village Links for years to come.
The driving range is expected to reopen around May 20. The clubhouse improvements should be completed in June. We are excited about these improvements and look forward to your visit.
