Yorktown Center food drive contributes to United Way's regional collection
LOMBARD — Despite it being a day of record flooding, on April 18 dozens of people brought food donations to Yorktown Center to participate in April Food Day, an annual event hosted by United Way of Metropolitan Chicago that benefits local food pantries.
More than 30 corporate partners donated 18,500 pounds of food and personal care items that will be donated to 11 food pantries in the communities United Way serves.
United Way serves communities in DuPage, Kane, Cook, McHenry, Will and Lake counties, and is implementing its community-impact plan, LIVE UNITED 2020, which works to ensure that 1 million people each year receive the crisis-relief items they need, including emergency food supplies.
In addition to Yorktown Center, suburban malls of Northbrook Court, Old Orchard, Springhill Mall and Woodfield Mall collected food donations.
