Published: Thursday, April 25, 2013 10:55 a.m. CDT

VILLA PARK — For the 28th consecutive year, the Village of Villa Park has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor Day Foundation, in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.

Municipalities are eligible for the Tree City USA honor if they have a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a community forestry program and an Arbor Day observation event.

At 10 a.m. Friday, members of the Villa Park Forestry and Park Division will plant a tree at the village's Tot Lot at the intersection of Villa Avenue and Park Boulevard.
