OAK BROOK — More than 1,000 people have registered for the Oak Brook Park District's annual Pink 5K, which will take place in Central Park on May 11.

Last year's race attracted about 594 registrants and raised more than $6,000 to benefit the Hinsdale Hospital Foundation Open Arms Breast Cancer Outreach Fund.

This year, the park district has announced that Lisa Griffith, mezzo-soprano, will sing the National Anthem before the race. Griffith has been teaching Music Together at the Oak Brook Park District since 1997. This class provides young students with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy participating in school and social music activity, as well as future instrument study.

In addition to her opera and concert career, Griffith is a voice teacher at the Music Institute of Chicago, and director of Music Together of Oak Brook and Elmhurst.
