New electricity contract will save La Grange residents 19 percent
LA GRANGE – The village of La Grange signed an electricity agreement with FirstEnergy Solutions that will save residents and small business customers more than 19 percent through May 2014.
The village secured a base rate of 4.86 cents per kilowatt-hour, 19.6 percent less than the ComEd rate of 6.05 cents per kilowatt-hour, the village announced on its website Wednesday. The new aggreement takes effect in June. Starting in September, the savings will fall to 19.1 percent when ComEd drops its rate to 6.01 center per kilowatt-hour. The village's contract with FirstEnergy runs through May 2014.
Eligible residents and small businesses will automatically be enrolled in the base program unless they choose to opt out of the program. For more information about the program and the opt out option, click here.
