Mother of accused Willowbrook murderer sentenced for obstructing justice
WILLOWBROOK — A 43-year-old Willowbrook woman has been sentenced to two years in prison for her role in attempting to help her son conceal evidence in a murder case against him.
Elva Hernandez entered a guilty plea to one count of obstructing justice, a Class 4 felony, on Thursday. Her son, Juan Cuellar, is accused of first-degree murder in the September 2012 shooting death of Joshua Holmes.
About 6:45 p.m. Sept. 24, 2012, the DuPage County Sheriff's Office received a report of gunshots fired in the area of Honeysuckle Rose and Lilac lanes in Willowbrook. Holmes was lying on the roadway and bleeding, the apparent victim of gunshot wounds.
