Published: Thursday, April 25, 2013 6:00 p.m. CDT

ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Police Department is collecting prescription drugs in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration.

Between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, officers will be collecting expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs in the police department's west parking lot, 125 E. First St., for Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

The event aims to remove unneeded drugs from circulation and properly dispose of them. Prescription drugs can contaminate the environment when they are thrown away or flushed down the toilet.
