Bolingbrook family raising funds for hospital that saved son's life
BOLINGBROOK – In January 2012, Bolingbrook residents Joseph and Stacy Hillenburg thought their four-week-old-son Benjamin was coming down with the flu.
However, an echocardiogram revealed that Benjamin’s heart was in fact dangerously large and, within hours, he was airlifted to now Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital, formerly Children’s Memorial Hospital of Chicago.
There, Benjamin was diagnosed with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, a disease that would require a heart transplant.
