WHEATON – Although the cause of a weekend garage fire in Wheaton is believed to be accidental, an investigation into the fire's cause and origin has been launched, according to a department news release.
The Wheaton Fire Department responded to the reported structure fire at about 8:40 p.m. Saturday. The fire was located on the built-out second floor of a detached three-car garage in the 700 block of East Liberty Drive. It was quickly extinguished, and the property was turned back over to the owners, according to the release.
The fire caused no injuries and no damage to the house. The estimated damage to the garage is unavailable at this time, and the cause is currently listed as "undetermined," according to the release.
Wheaton firefighters were assisted by the Wheaton Police Department and several neighboring fire departments.
