Villa Park police collecting prescription drugs

Published: Wednesday, April 24, 2013 10:16 a.m. CDT

VILLA PARK — Community members with expired, unused or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs can bring them to the Villa Park Police Department, 40 S. Ardmore Ave, on Saturday.

An officer will collect the unwanted medication and properly dispose of it.

Expired and unused prescription medications are a safety hazard and can cause accidental poisoning, overdose or abuse. Flushing medications down the toilet or throwing them away can cause water contamination or a health hazard.

Drugs will be collected from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and all drop-offs will be anonymous.

Anyone with questions can contact Officer Kevin Conner by calling 630-834-7447.
