Unique fundraiser Sunday to benefit Lemont baseball program
LEMONT — The Lemont baseball program is embarking on a unique fundraising opportunity that will allow its supporters to rest easy.
The Indians, led by head coach Brian Storako, will hold its first-ever Mattress Fundraiser Sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in the school’s fieldhouse. Proceeds will benefit Lemont High School's baseball program.
"We were actually approached," Storako said. "A guy emailed me and we decided to give it a try. As off the wall as it sounds, they (Custom Fundraising Solutions) take care of a lot of the stuff.
"The guys are excited about it so we will see how it turns out."
According to a Lemont High School press release, all mattresses available will be brand new with their factory warranties. Prices will be set between 30 and 60 percent off of the regular retail cost for a wide variety of mattress types.
Customers can download a flyer from the school’s website, good for $50 off their purchase.
"The guys did ask, 'Are we really selling mattresses,?'" Storako said. "We are not doing that, we are just providing an area for the company to sell. Lockport High School had done it in the past and I talked to their coach and he said they were pretty successful with it."
