LA GRANGE – Dozens of La Grange merchants will roll out the red carpet and stay open late to celebrate women at the first Girlfriends Getaway May 2 from 2–9 p.m..

The event, organized by the La Grange Business Association, will include nearly 30 businesses that will offer one-day bargains, door prizes, refreshments and unique events for women.

The occasion will include a grand prize drawing for a one-night stay at the Trump Hotel Chicago and a Vera Bradley weekend tote bag. Other attractions include a pasta making demonstration, do-it-yourself project information, wine tastings, experts on skin consultation and wardrobe dilemmas, styling tips, painting parties, salon treatments, a jewelry trunk show and more. Unusual savings will also be offered for cosmetic procedures like Botox and custom teeth whitening as well as various salon and fitness services.

As an added incentive, 200 women will receive a reusable tote bag which they can present at participating businesses to receive a small gift. One hundred empty tote bags will be distributed at 2 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. from the event headquarters, located in the lobby of the Vanguard Medical Building at Sixth and Harris streets. Vanguard Medical Group is a sponsor of the event along with the village of La Grange.

Shoppers can pick up a Girlfriends Guide with an event map and list of participating merchants and activities plus a one-day coupon for a $5 discount with a $25 minimum purchase, valid at each selected business. Girlfriends Guides are available throughout La Grange, in Village Hall and at the Vanguard Medical Building.

“We’re showcasing all that La Grange businesses have to offer this spring,” said Steve Jasinski, president of the La Grange Business Association. “The weather is warmer and it’s time to relax and have some fun.”
