NORTH RIVERSIDE — Riverside Brookfield softball went from an offensive explosion to an offensive fizzle in back-to-back games last week.
The Bulldogs beat Fenton 19-7 on April 15 but followed that up with a 10-0 loss at Illiana Christian the next day.
That's been the story of the season for the Bulldogs.
RB scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first against Fenton. Katie O'Connell blasted a home run and three hits and junior Ashley Murphy was 3-for-3 with a double. O'Connell picked up her third win of the season in the circle.
Against Illiana, the same Bulldog bats managed just five hits. Errors led to five unearned runs in the first inning for the Vikings and RB couldn't recover.
Flooding in the area wiped out the rest of the week for the Bulldogs. RB was scheduled for five games this week, beginning with Tuesday's game at Queen of Peace. Conference games against Ridgewood and Elmwood Park mark the next two days.
The Bulldogs entered last week with a .330 team batting average, but carry a 3-12 record into this week's action. Last year, RB was 26-8 with a 9-3 conference record.
