Prep roundup: Glenbard East girls soccer wins Niles West Tournament

BASEBALL

Montini

Ben Dobosenski earned the win and Eric Frontzak picked up the save in the Broncos’ 2-1 victory over St. Francis on Monday.

SOFTBALL

Montini

Shaylee Lewis was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and four stolen bases in the Broncos’ 15-0 win over Walther Lutheran on Monday. Bell Alexander added a three-run homer and had four RBIs for Montini.

Addison Trail

Crystal Marinelli threw a one-hitter in AT’s 10-0 win over St. Joseph on Saturday.

Willowbrook

The Warriors dropped their first conference game of the season in a 10-2 loss at Morton on Monday.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Addison Trail

The Blazers went 2-2 at their own invite on Saturday. AT beat St. Charles North 25-13, 16-25, 15-8 and Latin 25-18, 25-20. The Blazers lost to Elk Grove 25-27, 26-24, 15-11 and Glenbard North 25-18, 25-20.

Willowbrook

The Warriors went 1-1 in pool play at Downers Grove South’s Mustang Invitational. They lost to Downers Grove North in the silver bracket opener. Willowbrook fell to Downers Grove South on Monday in a West Suburban Gold match. The Mustangs won 25-18, 25-13. Ben Wozniak had seven kills to lead the Warriors (10-7, 2-1 WSG). Jimmy Riordan and Austin Kirchner had five kills each and Kyle Dewyer had 13 assists.

GIRLS TRACK & FIELD

Willowbrook

Colleen Krawczykowski won the long jump at the Sue Pariseau Invitational Saturday at Benedictine. She jumped 16 feet, 4.25 inches. Jada Stills also won the shot put and was fourth in the discus. Taylor Burton was second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.46. Molly Krawczykowski was fourth in the 800. Willowbrook was ninth in the 14-team invite.

GIRLS SOCCER

Glenbard East

The Rams won the Niles West Tournament with three wins, playing a condensed schedule because of weather. East beat Willowbrook 3-0 on Friday for the second win over their rivals this season. Brittany Paganucci had two goals and Alex Ruffer scored a goal and had two assists.

On Saturday, East picked up two shutout wins, 1-0 over Resurrection and 4-0 over the host Wolves. K.J. Nelson scored the lone goal against Resurrection. Ruffer and Nicole Alfaro scored twice each in the win over Niles West. Senior goalkeeper Veronica Fairbairn earned a shutout in all three games.

BOYS TENNIS

Glenbard East

The Rams beat West Aurora 6-1 on Monday in a DuPage Valley Conference dual. Nathan Delawder, Shehdad Khundmiri and Jason Hwang won singles matches. East swept the three doubles courts.

BOYS GYMNASTICS

Addison Trail, Willowbrook

The Warriors topped district-rival Addison Trail 131.05-114.2 on Monday. Willowbrook’s Dominic LoFrano had the top all-around score, 40.3.

On Friday, the Blazers lost a dual meet to Glenbard West 138.5-118.4. Aaron DeLaCruz had a meet-high 8.8 on the parallel bars.

Glenbard East

The Rams placed fifth as hosts of the DuPage Valley Conference meet on Friday. East scored 107.7. Melik Prum was sixth in the all-around (35.35).

The Rams scored 105.7 points to place sixth out of seven teams at the Steve Kafka Invitational Saturday at Glenbard West. Prum placed seventh on floor exercise (8.2), Tony Caruso was eighth on rings (6.8) and Shariq Imam was ninth on pommel horse (6.1).
