Pear tree will honor longtime La Grange Park volunteer

LA GRANGE PARK – A pear tree will be planted in front of Village Hall to honor Margaret Molitor Foster, a lifelong resident and longtime community volunteer.

The tree will be planted as part of the Arbor Day Ceremony, which takes place at 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, in the front lawn outside Village Hall, 447 N. Catherine Ave.

Foster has volunteered for the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and St. Francis Church's Women's League. She also served the as the village clerk for 20 years, from 1973 to 1993. She was nominated for the honor by 10 individuals.

Friends, family and members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony. In the coming weeks, an honorary plaque will be placed next to the pear tree commemorating Foster's contributions to the village of La Grange Park.
