Lisle High School ranked among best in Illinois

LISLE – Lisle High School was listed among the best in the state in US News & World Report's annual rankings, published Tuesday.

Lisle placed 57th out of 667 public high schools analyzed by the online news magazine.

The school was among 50 silver-medal winning schools in the state. US News & World Report also awarded gold medals to 19 Illinois public high schools, and bronze medals to 69 schools.

According to the rankings, 26 percent of students at Lisle take AP classes. About 69 percent of the school's students are proficient in reading, and 70 percent are proficient in math.

To rank the schools, US News & World Report teamed with Washington, D.C.-based American Institutes for Research, a behavioral and social science research organizations, to analyze test scores.

The ranking methodology first looked to determined whether students were performing better than expected for the average student in the state, according to the magazine. The methodology also factored in the percentage of economically disadvantaged students that were performing better than statistical expectations. The second step determined whether the school's minority and low-income students were performing better than average for similar students in the state. The final step looked at the schools' college-readiness performance using Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data.

Other high-performing schools in the western suburbs included Hinsdale Central High School, which ranked 8th in the state. St. Charles North High School ranked 21st, York Community High School ranked 29th, Wheaton Warrenville South High School ranked 32nd, Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn ranked 34th, Downers Grove North High School ranked 36th and Downers Grove South High School ranked 52nd, among others.

Northside College Preparatory High School in Chicago ranked 1st in Illinois.
