Good Sam Hospital to honor nurses with film screening at Tivoli Theatre

DOWNERS GROVE – Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital will recognize the important role nurses play in people’s lives by screening a newly released film at the Tivoli Theatre in downtown Downers Grove.

Hundreds of nurses and their family members, hospital officials and others touched by nurses will be invited to watch “Nurses: If Florence Could See Us Now,” a 90-minute independent feature documentary, at showings scheduled for 4 and 8 p.m. on May 7.

The event is sponsored by Good Samaritan Hospital in honor of National Nurses Week, observed May 6-12.

Good Samaritan Hospital nurses will be recognized on the historic theatre’s marquee during the showings. The Tivoli’s house organist also will play before the film is shown.
The film includes interviews with more than 100 nurses from across the country and offers a look into the complex and challenging profession.

The title of the film is a reference to Florence Nightingale, who is considered the founder of modern nursing.

She died in 1910.
