DOWNERS GROVE -- Downers Grove North's baseball team won big in two games against Proviso West over the weekend.
The Trojans continued that trend Monday, topping the Panthers 11-0 in five innings to complete the three-game sweep. North won 14-2 and 19-1 on Saturday in a pair of five-inning games.
Lucas Fisher earned the win on the mound and North improved to 11-2 overall and 8-1 in the West Suburban Silver conference.
The Trojans led 9-0 after an inning and invoked the 10-run mercy rule with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. James Sheldon's grand slam provided a big blow in the first inning.
Joe Provenzano laced a long single to center field and took second on Troy Southard's groundout. Sheldon reached on a error when the ball skipped away from the third baseman and into left field. Provenzano took third on the error and went home when the throw from the left fielder went to second base in a failed attempt to nail Sheldon going into second. Sheldon moved over to third on a wild pitch and scored on David Henson's single.
North is scheduled to face host Addison Trail at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and will travel to face Willowbrook at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
