DOWNERS GROVE — Downers Grove South's baseball team maintained its spot atop the West Suburban Gold conference standings with a 12-0, 9-3 doubleheader sweep of visiting Addison Trail on Saturday.

A five-run first inning and six-run fourth accounted for most of the damage in Game 1, and Brian Glowicki yielded just two hits to earn the win. Joe Becht homered, and Zach Burdi, Danny Mayer, Javier Martinez and Joe Vattimo doubled in the win.

Mayer earned the win in Game 2 with Nick Alfini and Danny Spinuzza pitching in relief. Becht and Ryan Taylor tripled while Mayer laced a double as part of South's 12-hit attack.

The Mustangs improved to 14-3 overall and 10-1 in WSG play ahead of Monday's 4:30 p.m. series finale at Addison Trail.
