Dental Essay and Poetry Contest winners announced

CICERO – State Rep. Lisa Hernandez announced the winners of the fifth annual Dental Health Month Essay and Poetry Contest for school children.

Children in grades fourth, fifth and sixth who live in the 24th Legislative District participated in the essay contest which asks students to write about why dental healthcare is important.

Three essays were selected from each of the participating student grade levels from hundreds of entries that were received. Each winner received a prize, including a laptop computer for the first place winner, an iPad Mini for the second place winner and school supplies and a gift card for the third place winner.

Winners for the intermediate level are:

First place, Cole Guerrero, Komensky Elementary School; second place, winner not in attendance; third place, Yasmany Andrade, Komensky Elementary School.

Junior high level winners are:

First place winner, Claudia Del Toro, Unity Jr. High School; Second place, Jaime Camacho, Freedom Middle School in Berwyn; third place, Jose Luis Sanchez Jr., Freedom Middle School in Berwyn.
