Published: Monday, April 22, 2013 5:14 p.m. CDT

LA GRANGE – Construction on the Village Hall roof will begin April 24 and is scheduled to be completed by the end of May, depending on the weather, the village announced on its website last week.

The project consists of removing the roof system down to the existing deck, inspecting and replacing damaged decking and installing the underlayment and architectural shingles. All American Exterior Solutions is conducting the project.

Village Hall will be accessible at all times during the project. The existing handicap parking spaces immediately adjacent to Village Hall in the surface lot will be used by the contractor to stage materials and debris. Temporary handicap parking spaces will be created, with appropriate signage, on the north side of the parking lot.

The contractor plans to erect scaffolding around the entire perimeter of the building in order to provide for safe pedestrian access and to maintain accessibility to Village Hall. During construction, the contractor also plans to have rolling closures of entrances to accommodate the work. Directional and informational signs will be posted around Village Hall directing pedestrians accordingly.

The Farmer’s Market, which begins on Thursday, May 9, will continue to be held in the surface parking lot adjacent to Village Hall.

Those with questions regarding the project activities, or those who have special needs that are of concern, can contact the Department of Public Works at 708-579-2328.
