Published: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 6:00 a.m. CDT

BOLINGBROOK – Bolingbrook will once again participate in the National Take Back Initiative from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Hosted by the Bolingbrook Police Department, National Take Back Initiative allows residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unwanted or unused prescription drugs.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.

In the five previous Take-Back events, DEA in conjunction with our state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners have collected more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications were removed from circulation.

Items can be dropped off at a designated area in Bolingbrook Police Department lobby, located at 375 W. Briarcliff Road. Officers will be on-hand to further instruct residents.
