LEMONT – Lemont police reported that two pedestrians struck by a car this morning are currently listed in stable condition at Silver Cross Hospital.

Police said Victor and Smaranada Badescu were crossing the street headed east at a crosswalk in the 600 block of State Street at about 9:55 a.m. April 20 when they were struck by a northbound driver. The couple was on their way to St. Alphonsus Church, 210 E. Logan St.

Both were transported to the hospital by the Lemont Fire Department.

The driver of the vehicle, Heather Rubach, of the 1300 block of Klapa in Lemont, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Police reported that their investigation was assisted by Illinois State Police.
