River receding in Riverside

RIVERSIDE – The Des Plaines River at Riverside has begun to recede, but it will be several days before some areas of the village are open to residents and traffic, Riverside officials report.

The crest of the river in Riverside was recorded at 11 feet 4 inches on April 19. Portions of the following roads remain flooded:  Groveland, Park Place, Lincoln, West, Waubansee, Forbes, Parkview, Pine, and Fairbank.

Officials ares asking the public to not enter flooded areas.

In Brookfield, several roadways are reported still closed. Flood damage garbage will continue to be picked up until April 26 at the normal collection locations. Electronics will be recycled for the next week at Village Hall.

Official disaster areas are being designated by State and Federal officials and assistance information will be posted at www.broofieldil.gov as it becomes available.
