Police: Hinsdale worked ‘as a team’ after storms
HINSDALE — Evacuations, power outages, flooded streets and cars in water seemed all too familiar for some residents in the Graue Mill area on York Road in Hinsdale last week.
The Graue Mill Condo Association had to be evacuated because of flooding April 18 from the Salt Creek nearby. Electrical transformers were submerged underwater and two parking garages were completely flooded with cars still there, said Hinsdale Police Chief Bradley Bloom.
“From the observations of the people that were here and saw both, it seemed like that area got hit considerably harder this year than it did in 2010,” Bloom said. “There was a lot more flooding and that was one of the reasons why one of the garages still contained cars because people thought cars would stay safe because that garage area didn’t flood in 2010.”
