DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin announced last week that a jury has found a Coal City man guilty of a felony for hijacking a woman last year in a Woodridge parking lot.
Michael Buhrman, 32, was found guilty of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, a Class X Felony.
Buhrman was tried in absentia after he removed a GPS tracking device and fled in September 2012, according to the state’s attorney office.
The verdict followed allegations that at 9:55 p.m. May 12, 2012, a masked Buhrman approached a female victim as she sat in her parked car in a Woodridge parking lot.
Buhrman then pointed a loaded .45 caliber handgun at Bradley’s head and ordered her out of the car before driving off with the car.
Woodridge police quickly apprehended Buhrman in a separate parking lot several minutes later, but since posting $200,000 bond he has not showed up at any court hearings.
Buhrman’s next court date is scheduled for May 15 for return of the pre-sentence report.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Buhrman is encouraged to contact the Woodridge Police Department or the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
