Main Street in Wheaton sees most severe flooding; areas closed
WHEATON – Several streets in Wheaton have been closed due to flooding, police officials said.
"There are so many of them I can't even begin to say," Lt. Bob Miller said.
Some of the most severe flooding is along Main Street, from Roosevelt Road to Willow Avenue and Cole Avenue to Park Circle Drive, Miller said.
The interection of Blanchard and President streets is closed as well. However, both Butterfield and Naperville roads remain open, he said.
No power outages have been reported, but several cars are stuck due to flooding, Miller said. Wheaton firefighters have removed drivers from their vehicles, but vehicles will have to remain in streets until water levels decrease and they can be towed, he said.
City workers have opened manhole covers and cleared drainage gates, but it will take time for the water to go down, Miller said.
