BOLINGBROOK - Dogs and cats being housed at the Bolingbrook Animal Control and Care Facility had to be evacuated Thursday morning as flooding threatened the animal pound.

About two feet of water filled the building after parts of Royce Road flooded, according to Bolingbrook Police Lt. Mike Rompa. The pound is located at 145 Royce Road.

Bolingbrook Animal Control was able to safely evacuate all the animals from the pound and relocate them to a safe location, Rompa said.

Police gave no timetable as to when the pound would re-open.
