Riverside police make drug, weapon bust
RIVERSIDE – Riverside police officers who smelled cannabis coming from a vehicle as it drove by them on the street reported finding a loaded gun along with a little more than 2 grams of marijuana, according to police
Police were investigating a fraud complaint about 11:50 a.m. April 15 near Burlington Street and Deleplane Road when a 2010 Ford pickup drove by them and officers smelled marijuana. The truck was stopped on Groveland Avenue near Forest Avenue and the driver immediately exited the vehicle, reached into his pocket and pulled out a magazine clip for a rifle loaded with .038-caliber bullets, police said.
Police took Billy G. Longmire, 51, of Woodridge, into custody and asked if he had any illegal substances or weapons in the car. Longmire told the officers that he had marijuana and a handgun in a briefcase in the front seat of his truck.
