WESTMONT – Cupcake queen Diane Eenigenberg has a simple message for the Westmont community: "We're back."
Eenigenberg will re-open her popular La Petite Sweet bakery in a new location at 15 S. Cass Ave. months after closing up shop and talking of a move to Naperville.
The move to Naperville never happened, she explained, and she's glad it didn't.
"This is home," she said, referring to the Westmont community. "This new location, I can walk here ... This is where my customer base is. It's Westmont."
After five years at her former location, 31 N. Cass Ave., Eenigenberg planned to move her business amid issues with the former building's owner.
"We slammed the brakes on (moving to) Naperville after we heard a spot could open here and I thought I could be patient enough to wait for a space to open and it did," she said.
The storefront previously housed Cafe Khalkedon.
What's in store for her new shop?
"The same great sweets. We're expanding our gluten-free line, giving it an entire division on its own. We'll still have fabulous coffee, pastries, cookies, custom cookies, custom cakes," she said, adding that her smoothies will return this summer as well.
The new spot will also give her better visibility along Cass Avenue, she said.
Eenigenberg is eyeing a Tuesday opening.
"We have a few things to do before then but I can count them on two hands," she said.
On Wednesday, she was already answering the phone at the new location – 630-719-1111 – and is taking orders for pick-up at opening.
"I'm just thrilled. We're getting a ton of welcome back emails. We've got a fabulous customer base," she said.
