LOMBARD — More than 300 students, teachers and volunteers from Pleasant Lane School came together to participate in the American Diabetes Association's School Walk on Friday.

During this event, participants helped raise money for diabetes research and learned about healthy living and diabetes prevention.

This year, students dedicated their walk to Linda Puccio, a teacher at Pleasant Lane School who has Type 1 diabetes and has shared her experiences with students.

In all, the students raised almost $6,000 to benefit the American Diabetes Association.

Water and apples were donated by Ultra Foods and Mr Z's Supermarket in Lombard.
