Hinsdale Central baseball still in search of winning formula

HINSDALE — After Hinsdale Central’s baseball team dropped the third game of its West Suburban Silver conference series with Glenbard West, head coach Tom Dorrance talked about going back to the drawing board.

Dorrance hoped some soul searching would help the Red Devils find the winning touch, but they are still searching for the right formula following a 13-9 WSS loss to state powerhouse Oak Park-River Forest Saturday.

Central (4-4 overall, 3-3 WSS) managed eight hits overall and scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game at 7-7, but the Huskies scored six runs over the final two innings and the Red Devils’ two-run rally in the seventh wasn’t enough to get the job done.

Among the eight hits, Chris Botsoe’s double was the only one for extra bases.

The Red Devils will look to turn things around in their three-game series against district rival Hinsdale South. The set starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday in Darien, continues at 10 a.m. Saturday at South and comes to Central for a 4:30 p.m. game Monday.
