GLEN ELLYN – Members of the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company have elected longtime member Jim Bodony as fire chief.

Bodony succeeds former Chief Jeff Buccola, who will continue to serve the company as an assistant chief. Buccola served as chief since Nov. 9 when he was selected to complete former Chief Pete Campbell's term after Campbell resigned.

Bodony is a 40-year veteran of the company. He retired from the Oak Brook Fire Department in March 2009 after working there for 37 years. Bodony served as fire chief from July 2005 until his retirement.

Bodony is a lifelong resident of Glen Ellyn where he attended St. Petronille Catholic School and Glenbard West High School. He is married to a retired Glen Ellyn School District 41 teacher and has two grown children. Bodony is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
