DOWNERS GROVE — Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is investigating compensation practices of Downers Grove-based DeVry Inc., according to media reports.

The private education company was subpoenaed earlier this month by Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office.

The Illinois Attorney General is investigating whether the company is complying with the incentive compensation ban of the Higher Education Act, according to media reports.

The ban says schools participating in federal student aid programs can't financially reward employees based on enrollment figures or securing financial aid.

The Massachusetts attorney general's office also subpoenaed the company, and is asking if the company filed false information related to student loans, guarantees or grants, according to media reports.
Illinois has asked DeVry for documents from on or after Jan. 1, 2002; and Massachusetts seeks documents from on or after Jan. 1, 2007.
