Chris Rinaldi of Medinah and Rachel Gebhart of Addison spend some time on the dance floor at the NEDSRA Spring Formal.

ADDISON — The Northeast DuPage Special Recreation Association recently hosted its annual Spring Formal Dance for adults with intellectual disabilities at the Itasca Country Club.

Attendees dressed in their finest outfits received corsages and boutonnières — donated by USA Bouquet-Itasca — to compliment their formalwear at the April 12 event. A four-course meal was served to give the dancers needed fuel for the night.

A drawing to anoint a king and queen of the dance took place, with Yvonne Blais of Villa Park receiving a tiara and bouquet of flowers. Sam Elmore, also of Villa Park, was crowned king.

About 100 local residents were in attendance. DJ Eric Brandt provided a variety of music that had the crowd dancing for most of the night.

NEDSRA is a nonprofit organization that offers recreational programs and services for adults and children with disabilities of Addison, Bensenville, Butterfield Park District, Glendale Heights, Itasca, Lombard, Medinah, Oakbrook Terrace, Schiller Park, Villa Park and Wood Dale.
