Lombard teen competes with team at Irish dancing World Championship

LOMBARD — Kelly Heniff, an Irish dancer and Lombard resident, competed with her team from the Lavin-Cassidy School of Irish Dancers at the 2013 World Irish Dancing Championships that were held in Boston March 28. Heniff and the other dancers on her team helped the group earn third place out of 104 teams from around the world.

In the team competition, Heniff danced with a group of seven other girls from the Lavin-Cassidy School, and they performed in three rounds in front of a panel of judges.

The team will now compete at the North American National Championships in Anaheim, Calif., during the first week of July.

Lavin-Cassidy School of Irish Dance is located in Worth, and, in addition to Heniff, the team includes Bailey Donnelly and Kali Graziano of Oak Lawn, Emily Petersen of Palos Park, Erin and Bridget Rickert of Chicago, Keely Dolan of Hickory Hills and Martina Lee of Lemont.
