Cicero to celebrate Greek Independence Day

CICERO – The Town of Cicero will host a celebration of Greek Independence Day and Greek American History at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at the town of Cicero Community Center, 2250 S. 49th Ave.

Local historian and former Town Assessor John Kociolko will serve as the emcee. Guest speakers include Elemi Bousis and attorney Louis Palivos.

The event will include Greek cuisine and Greek entertainment.

Each year, Cicero hosts events including commemorations for the birthday of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Casimir Pulaski Day, the Houby Day Festival, Columbus Day, Cinco De Mayo and Mexican Independence Day, Puerto Rican, Lithuanian and Greek  Independence day and the American Festival which celebrates mainstream American culture.
