ELMHURST — Nine talented teenagers will take center stage for the second year in a row to raise money for the Blues Kids Foundation.

The blues performance takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Fitz’s Spare Keys, 119 N. York Road, Elmhurst.

“We are pleased to build off of last year’s success and showcase the dedication and skill of these kids in a family-friendly setting,” said event organizer Candace Lezak.

Dubbed the Blues Kids Band, its members include children ages 13 to 17 from the western suburbs. They’ll play a selection of blues hits and rock classics, as well as numbers written by Fernando Jones, legendary blues musician and professor at Columbia College.

Jones is the driving force behind the Blues Kids Foundation, which benefits from the charity concert. His foundation hosts the free weeklong Blues Camp for kids aimed at instilling passion for blues music in the next generation of artists.

Tickets cost $30 for adults and $15 for children. The show is appropriate for all ages until 10 p.m. At that time, Jones and My Friend’s Band will perform the blues for audience members older than 21 until 1 a.m. Tickets include food and a raffle will be available.

For advance tickets, call 630-532-2740. Tickets also will be available at the door.
