Villa Park library hosts events for National Library Week

VILLA PARK — Special events will be happening all week at the Villa Park Public Library in celebration of National Library Week, which will run Sunday through April 20.

This annual event is sponsored by the American Library Association and is a way for local libraries to engage community members and educate them about resources available.

The library will host a screening of the movie "Pay It Forward" at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. There also will be a book discussion on "Pay It Forward" at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

On Monday, a presentation will be given by Kate Bradley, a local master gardener and master chef, about how to can and preserve fruits and vegetables grown in home gardens. This presentation will be at 7 p.m.

Jane Austen fans can attend an event at 7 p.m. Wednesday where the literary author, portrayed by an actress, will be at the library talking to visitors about her life as a writer and the legacy of her books.
